변형체의 역학적 특성을 배우고 구조적 거동을 해석하는데 기본이 되는 원리들을 익히며 개념을 파악한다. 응력과 변형률의 물리적 개념을 배우고 하중과 변위, 응력, 변형률 등의 상호관계를 연구하여 역학적 해석에 적용한다. 또한, 학습된 내용을 심화, 발전시키기 위하여 재료 및 소형 모형실험을 통하여 그 이론을 채득한다.

Analysis of force systems and their equilibria as applied to engineering systems. Stresses and strains in deformable bodies; mechanical behavior of materials; applications of principles to static problems of beams, torsion members, and columns. Selected laboratory work.
